After towing through several big storms this summer I really appreciate having a truck on the larger side rather then the lighter side. Same rationale for having a diesel. The days of white knuckle experiences are vastly reduced. I can't think of any set of airbags that would have pulled me through those storms or of any leaf spring or fancy hitch that would have kept me on the road.
In one storm we pulled off at the next rest stop but my point is that we got to the next rest stop because we had enough truck.
