Ride and Safety are the two main reasons I installed Vision 19.5's and Toyo 265/70's. (I got the 604z's with aggressive tread)
I estimate that each tire+rim weighs ~50lbs more than what I had before.
(not a real issue to me)
The 16" tires I had before had ~3400lbs rating @ 80PSI.
Depending on load I have 6400 to 6800lbs on the back end. Not much margin here.
(I carry totes of dry firewood)
The 19.5's I have now have 5xxxlbs rating @ 110PSI.
The old tires were 31" and the new ones 34.4".
I run the fronts at minimum 80PSI and the rears at 90PSI. Little or no 'tire squat' and sidewall flex with much improved ride.
The tires have more rating than the rims. The rims have more rating than the axle. I don't have to run the tires at 'max pressure' and I have a large "safety margin" built in. While ANY tire can blow out, over loaded ones fail far more often than tires that are used within their rating.
Toyo and a few others have models with fairly aggressive tread. At ~5K miles a year I expect the Toyo's to outlast my truck. :)
Expensive? Sure. Overkill for my camper&load? Debatable.
The piece of mind however is "priceless".
