1974 - 1976 Prowler info

My family once owned a Prowler back in the mid 70's. I remember some details about it but would like to know more. It was dual axle with a rear bath and a fold down bunk above the large dinette/queen bed up front. Does anyone have any brochures or data sheets on old Prowler TTs? I'd love to see some specs on it. We towed it with a Ford Station Wagon! I think my Dad was BRAVE!

Thanks,
Paul

  • I remember my dad pulling with a Plymoth Fury back in the early 70's before he finally bought a truck to tow with. Not sure which was longer, the Fury or the TT.
  • The 65 Mercury wagon that my dad drove had a 390 cubic inch engine, C6 transmission, and made about 250 HP. It came on a frame that is equal to the F-100 of the time. So it was a strong car, just like your dad had.

The trailers where a lot lighter at that time. Probably no anti-sway or weight distribution system (they had come out but not in common use).

My dad drilled two holes into the bumper to mount a tow hitch for our dune buggy, and also had clamp on wheel mount to carry the Yamaha 90 trail bike on the bumper.

Dad was very handy, the Mercury came with optional seat belts, but older cars he installed the seat belts himself, from a kit you can buy at Pep Boys. Aww, the good old days.
