1992 Dodge Dually specs???

I may have an opportunity to pick this truck up. It's a crew cab dually with the cummins. I'm only interested in it for TC purposes but I can't find any reliable info on it's weights. Does anybody know where I could find that info? GCVWR and GVWR.

I've read 14k GCVWR and 7k GVWR which seems really high for the combined. I can imagine it could handle 7k in passengers and cargo.
  • Did you try doing a search on the VIN? Anything on the door pillar for the weights?
  • 10,100 in total weight should be on the door sill.

my truck is a single cab W350, empty weight is 6,200 with me and 1/2 tank of fuel.

don't know what it weighs with the 03 lance/slide and don't really care as I will be hauling it anyhow.

Your truck will be a bit heavier due to the extended cab, but I am 4x4, just so I understand....your truck is an extended cab with the small jump seats in the rear ....correct.

I honestly couldn't tell you. I haven't really looked at the truck other than glancing as I drive by. It's at a buddy's shop and the owner didn't wanna pay for repairs (blown rear axle) and asked him to sell it.

So if I understand correctly, if I ripped the bed off and made my own camper, as long is it was ~3500 lbs or less I'd be alright?

GCVWR? GCWR= gross combined weight rating =truck loaded + trailer loaded going down the road , Im guessing that year 17000k to 20000k depending on trans, just a guess

GVWR=gross vehicle weight rating= loaded truck , 10100 may be what is on the dodge door pilar sticker, alot of folks here go by tire rating and axel rating . Tires on that dually may be rated each at 2800lbs ? or more or less , just a guess, x4 =11200lbs . The axle may be a hybred dana 70 with 4" axle tubes , have your freind who is saying blown rear axle tell you , if its a 70 hybred w/ 4" tubes I think the actual rating is more like 8580 lbs , my dana 70 is 3" tubes and 7500lbs rating
My 99 4x4 dodge long bed Quad cab diesel SRW weighs at rear axle 3000 lbs and 4620lbs front unloaded + full tank + me+ dog +buckstop front bumper
If the rear of that truck weighs about 3000lbs you may work it out to haul more than a 3500lb camper
But "you" have to do the work by weighing the truck , making sure of your tire and axle ratings and feel comfortable with it
Or go by the de-rated door tag

Sure, that'd work. Playing the odds, it would be a sad day if a dually pickup truck of ANY generation could not safely haul a 3500lb cargo, no matter who is riding in the cab.

I'm betting you could be somewhat heavier and still be fine, but you need to get the door pillar information, and ideally, have the truck weighed empty, to get an exact number.
  • Sounds like it could be a sweet deal. Simple, bulletproof combo. 3500 lb camper no problem. If its a crew cab though , it's a custom job. Don't believe Dodge ever made a 1st Gen Ram crew cab.
  • Hahahahaha, well it's a non-issue now. My buddy texted me just now letting me know that the truck got stolen from in front of his shop last night.
