1997 F-250?????

Anybody have experience with the 1997 F-250 "Heavy Half"? I'm not sure what this truck would be called,, heavy half or light three quarter??? Anyway, it was the first year of the 10th generation F-150 body style. My understanding is that they took the new F-150 body and beefed up the axles, added 7 lug wheels and placed a F-250 emblem on it. The one I'm looking at is extended cab and has a 5.4l w/ 4 speed automatic. I can't find any firm numbers on towing capacity.

Any thoughts?

The door sticker should have the GVWR, but it is the equivalent of the current F150 Max/Max with a 8,200 GVWR, still a 1/2 ton by design with a semi floating rear axle.
Do yourself a favor and get a real 3/4 ton F250/2500 there is a big difference.

A friend of mine had one. Ford referred to it as a LD F-250. My friend called it a 5/8's ton, but that was really just a joke among us friends.

They are very popular around here with lawn crews, and utilities that are always towing or hauling heavy cargo. Good luck with finding ratings, I would check the owners manual, but it's probably long gone.
