Having never owned a 6.0, I can't speak to the issues. Based on my friends' experience with the early models, I'm unimpressed. My 99 7.3 Dually has a tow rating of 13.2k. IIRC the CC SRW's tow rating was slightly higher @ 13.5k. The obvious difference is in the payload capacity.
I can tell you that my 99 has 252k on the clock. I had the (weak link) tranny rebuilt at 155k miles ($2,200) and the ball joints were replaced at about the same time. I've also replaced the water pump and the camshaft position sensor (finally under recall). The rest has been religious regular maintenance: oil and filter changes, flushes, batteries, and tires. We're both looking a little long in the tooth, but the truck will probably outlast me... LOL.
