2 cycle generators

Clearly not all four cycle generators are not the same and just as clearly, not all two cycle generators are not the same.There are very noisy ones and quiet ones in both applications...

As I said earlier,this two cycle generator is just slightly louder than my Honda 2K inverter.

Evidently some of the two cycle generators are very noisy as are some of the four cycle,as most have posted but not all of them.This particular two cycle is quieter than the majority of four cycle generators and less than the price of one RV battery.

X2...or 3 or 5, however many have said basically the same thing. No offense to the OP, I get it, everyone has budgets. But I would also recommend as an alternative a cheap Honda-knock off any day over a two-stroke.

Let me tell you a true story, happened just last year.

I went to a large flea market put on by the entire town of Packwood, Wa last memorial weekend. There's one RV campground in town that's always booked solid, the rest of the RV parking is either out of town or are people or businesses renting out grass to park on. I always park at the end of town at a large hotel's back yard.

I parked next to a very young couple with nothing more than a single axle car/box trailer they had towed there with their Kia. It had an air mattress inside, a Coleman cooler, and that's it, that's what they had. That, and a bunch of rechargeable camp lights.

And... one of these 2-stroke generators.

Well, that evening they fired the thing up next to me to charge up their camp lights. I couldn't even hear my TV. This went on for 15 minutes, so I went outside and (politely) asked what they were using such a small generator for. They were doing nothing but charging up camp lights and cell phones.

So....

I have enough battery power to light a small city, and a very nice Magnum 3KW Hybrid Inverter. I (nicely) offered them if they shut that thing off, I'd run them an extension cord and just leave my inverter on all weekend. I use it all night anyway for my electric blanket.

Moral of the story---
Their 2-stroke generator worked great - it got the neighbor(me) so irritated they got free power all weekend.

I have one as a back up in case. Use it occasionally with a battery charger from Harbor Freight to charge my batteries. WOrks well for what I need it for. Mine is over 10 years old

I am not sure which ones some are talking about but my son bought a 1250 Watt 2-Cycle Generator GEN1250 and for less than $100 it's been great.It is not noisy at all and uses the same mix as our Stihl saws.He bought it for hunting and in my opinion,it's a good buy.

It's only slightly louder than my Honda 2K and much quieter than my Generac 4000XL and Onan 4K.I don't have anything negative to say about it for the price....It's certainly not a Honda or Yamaha but it is 1/10 of the price...

Harbor Freight has been selling one for years. I have not found one person who has anything good to say about them. If you do buy one, get the extended warranty, you will need it.

Also replace the Chinese spark plug with a Denso or NGK. It will last 10 time longer

If you want one, I'll give ya one!!....Nasty, noisy, and very difficult to both start, and to maintain!

There are a number of relatively quiet generators that use Yamaha engines for low prices. I'd do that or buy a Honda and be done.

Another thought is adding solar.

If you don't want to spend the money for a Honda or Yamaha, consider the Champion 2000i.
