Hmmmmmm. It also appears I timed quitting my oil and gas related job to travel in our RV at a good time. ;) Fuel prices are down, and the job market in the industry going to get tougher soon and a lot of people may lose their jobs. Nope, didn't plan it that way, but it never hurts to be lucky. Just hope I can find a job again when its time to go back to work. Just think if you produced widgits, and the price went from $107 per widget to $57 in a year or so. Yikes!
From what I understand, the US is now a net oil exporter as of last July for the first time since 1995, and we also now produce more oil than any other country in the world. Interesting. Our imports are the lowest since 1991.
Yes, this thread is actually of importance to those of us who use RV's and travel any significant amount. I still chuckle about the comments made during the last presidential elections about if so an so was elected prices would go to "x" dollars per gallon.
Regardless of politics, the fracking technologies success with unconventional reservoirs have made a remarkable difference in our oil independence.
Good call retiredgeologist. I remember a buddy telling me, in about 2010 that the US would be a net exporter within 5 years due to the unconventional resources and technology. I guess he was too conservative.....
