For 3-4k a good builder can make the Dodge tranny bullet proof when and if the time comes. Is it a 47RE or 48RE tranny in the Dodge? Chris
The advertisement I was looking at didn't list which tranny it had, and I have not been able to test drive it as it is 200 miles from me. The Chevy is a little bit farther away from me. This is one of the reasons why I wanted all of your input.
I'm sure it's the 47RE transmission as that was the transmission in my 2003 Ram 3500 V10. I owned it for 4 trouble free years. I really liked the truck but as you can fiqure the mpg wasn't the greatest. The best I ever got was 12 and that was non-pulling. It's a four speed and the Chevy will be a five speed. My brother had the 8.1L Chevy during the time I owned mine and we followed each other alot pulling our 5th wheels. I must confess that his truck seemed to have more power but he did have the 4.10 gears and I only had the 3.73 gears. I really think if Dodge had a 5 speed it would have performed better. Just seemed I was missing a gear.
