2003 Starcraft 19CK battery

My friends just bought for their first trailer a Starcraft 19CK HTT, but the seller didn't have a battery attached. I am trying to find the appropriate size of battery for their nused HTT. Thanks!!
  • Thank you all very much! This is exactly what I need to give them. Now I'm going to convince them to become RV.net members! :)
  • It depends on how they plan to use it.

If they will always camp with hookups, then any cheap 12v battery will do.

If they will be doing any dry camping or boondocking, then a pair of 12v deep cycle or 6v golf cart batteries would be the way to go.

Dealers usually install a cheap Group 24 dual purpose marine battery.

But it isn't any different than the battery setup you have with your Summerland.

Remember, they need a battery in it to legally tow it. The trailer's breakaway switch needs 12v battery power.
  • It requires a battery that is capable of providing 12 volts, most put the largest battery that can fit in the battery compartment.

Whether it is just a car battery or a battery more specific for RVing is dependent on the type of camping they are planning to do.

A regular 12 volt car battery will work fine if they just plan to use their RV at RV parks where power is supplied.

If they plan to do lots of camping where power hookups are not available a deep cell golf cart type of battery lends to better results.

Unlike cars and trucks towable RVs are not designed to use a specific size battery, usually the dealer installs a basic 12 volt car battery.
