If I remember correctly, the last 12V Cummins in the Dodge Ram was first half of 1998. 1998.5 model year (mid-year) switched to the 24V engine.
I was searching for the early year 98, as that was the first year Ram had the openable rear door for the extended cab and still had the 12V, but they seem rare as hen's teeth.
I like the 12V - easy horsepower increases, significantly less expensive injectors, no lift pump failure, but considerably louder (mechanical fuel pump)... but there are drawbacks to maintaining an older vehicle - but there are maintenance and operating expenses for all of them.
