Why did you put "sea foam" in your tank? Have you had a complete tune up done? As in wires, plugs and filters? The engine has 16 plugs in it and it only takes one fouled plug to send you fuel mileage south.
Don
Tune up was done in the last six months. I put SeaFoam in the tank because the gas gauge was sticking occasionally and I have heard so much about the product.
Yeah, "cure all in a bottle hype" :R ..
Many folks swear by it but in reality it is nothing more than very expensive snake oil.
Sea Foam nor any other additive will not fix sticky gas gauge senders, nor can it fix a miss in an engine but folks continue to buy into the marketing hype.
Adding sea foam to you fuel may have finished off your O2 sensors (which were most likely end of life)basically poisoning the sensors. Once the O2 sensors start getting sluggish the computer thinks that the engine is running lean and adds more fuel.. eventually computer runs out of fuel trim and will set a pending code. If pending code happens for so many operations then it sets the code and check engine light.
You NEED a code reader, it will get you data you need to help diagnose the problem.
There are many other items which can rob you of fuel mileage and not having a reader you are basically blindly replacing parts in hopes of finding the problem.
I bought a Harbor Freight code reader for less than $100 with a 20% off coupon.. It helped me save over $800 that a dealer would have charged to diagnose and replace two O2 sensors.
