Geez, some of these guys should become comedians....NOT! Too much time on their hands I guess.
When my truck had badly worn ball joints, I had a clunking in the front end when turning and the steering would occasionally stick when backing in my trailer so I would strongly suspect that is your issue. I suspect that the responses of front axle joint forget that a Ford does not have any moving drivetrain parts in the front end when in 2wd (as long as everything is working correctly) unlike a Dodge. Please let us know what you find out.
