OKAY BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD- UPDATE.
After looking at the 2005 2500 w/ extremely low miles, this truck is a piece. Has been used by a maintenance man and was basically destroyed which the salesman did not tell me over the phone.
So back to the 06' Dodge 1500 4x4 5.7 Hemi, I found out it does have the big 3.92 rear end ratio and does have the extra add ons for towing. Yes it has the tow/haul mode AND the overdrive lock-out button. Listed tow capacity is 8,500#s and I am only towing 6,700#s fully loaded per the scale. I usually travel with my wife, soon to be new born child which obviously will be light in weight, and 3 very small dogs. My father in law hauls the firewood, and bikes are placed in back of travel trailer. I also use weight dis. bars and a DOUBLE friction type anti-sway system. When I am not towing the 6,700# 26' travel trailer I am towing my 4500# boat which obviously will be perfectly fine.
The dealer I am potentially buying this truck from has also agreed to allow me to do a test tow towing with this Dodge truck.
I go camping mostly local 30 mins to 2 hours away and once a year travel 4 hours south down 75 S to Lake Cumberland Kentucky. Once a year I plan on towing to Florida.
All above said, does it sound like this tow vehicle will handle my travel trailer safely? One more thing, my travel trailer is a 2008 and if I ever upgrade it will be a class C, so not a bigger travel trailer.
Thanks!
