2005 suburban 2500 6.0 3.73 gear? anyone towed with one?

Hey anyone have any experience towing with a 2005 suburban 2500 6.0 with 3.73 rear end?
Towing capacity for these Suburbans are only #7,700 but just wondering who has experience with one
I tow a #5880 pound empty weight 28' forest river wildwood. Weighed down probably about #6500.
I am trading in my 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe 1500 as it does not have the towing power I need to safely tow.

Just looking to see if anyone has experience tow travel trailers with this model suburban?
Thanks
  • 1old truck- was yours a gmc pick up truck? or a Yukon xl?
The pick up trucks have much more towing capacity than the suburban 2500's for some reason
  • I have a 2005 GMC with 6.0 and 4.10 gears towing a similar set up. The track handles it with no problem. Fuel economy is 7-9 towing. Empty fuel economy is 13-16.
  • I have the same year Silverado 2500HD 6.0 410.1. My TT was a Jayco 26.5 weighing 6000lb loaded. The TV handled it fine and most of our towing was in the Western Rockies. You will get between 6.0 and 9.0 MPG depending on terrain. It will handle it quite some better than your 5.3. I did that also.
