Early LBZ's HAVE been known to have headgasket issues. The headgasket design was changed in mid 2006.
LUCKILY mine hasn't started leaking yet (late 2005 build date), but I do have turbo vane issues. Fairly common on the LBZ, mainly due to carbon and rust build up. It uses the same Garret turbo that Ford 6.0's use. Also, EGR's can be troublesome...I've had 3.
Love my truck...but it has been far from trouble free...but I don't drive it much (41k miles in 6 1/2 years).
