Hello, We are shopping for a tow vehicle for our 2013 25 ft. 5th wheel camper. Am looking at a 2006 Ram ST crew cab 4x4 dually with 6 speed manual trans. 3.73 gears and 5.7 Hemi engine with 142324 miles on it, goose neck ball in bed. Don't know much about the 5.7 Hemi and available power. Asking price is $17633.00 Last tow vehicle we had was a 1999 Dodge dually 2wd, 3.73 gears, 6 spd. manual with a 360 V8 gas engine. Really liked the 99 and had good fuel economy and plenty of power. Thanks for your help.

Wow, I got to learn something new today; I didn't think the Hemi was available in a Ram 3500 back in 2006! I thought the Cummins was standard on 1-tons until very recently.My thoughts: it sounds like a really cool truck (love the rare manual trans/gas engine combo) but I think they need to work on that price quite a bit. (I assume it's at a dealer?)Over 140k miles and a gooseneck hitch mean that thing has done it's share of work and if I was considering it for purchase myself I'd like to see the price reflect that.To me, even if in really nice shape, it sounds like a $11500-$12000 truck but that's just my opinion.

It would have to be showroom clean to get that much from me..Not sure I could even ask/get $17k for my 06 Cummins and I only have 118k miles...FWIW,Bryan

The Hemi would be fine for the weight that you are towing. I also agree with other posters. For the $$ you are talking, you could get a Cummins, which would be a huge upgrade over the Hemi.

My main concern is the 5.7 Hemi engine, at a Chrysler training center I had a chance to dismantle a 5.7 Hemi for instructional information and know that they are not much like the ole 426 Hemi's of the past. Without proper maintenance they will quickly become huge money pits. Maybe I would be better off with a Chevy 6.0 V8?

Buckleup, I am in my 5th year pulling the 5er in the signature. Hemi, 3.73 gears and automatic 4WD. So far have had no problems getting where I wanted to go. Our 5er is about 34'. Good Luck in your choice.

Ill go 19k on trolls truck!!! I think I could get somewhere around 18k for my truck with 93k miles. A guy I know is looking at an 06 ram mega cab with 56k miles with a 40k asking price... I told him he was nuts, but he is in love. Haha some people say love is blind

started hemi ion 2003 3500 dually,got 100,000 miles on are have pulled 3 different 5'ers no problem.

Yep why to much money for a gas truck with that much mileage. Your in the diesel price range and troll you might be pleasantly surprised what your truck.
