U should have no problem pulling that load with that drivetrain combo. Always remember that ur pulling a huge parachute behind u. Diesel is not always the cure all, each has their own personal preferences. I have owned both the 6.0/4 speed combo and now the current 6.0/6 speed combo. Yes with the 4 speed u will drop to 2nd on grades and run 4k. Totally normal and will not hurt anything at all. On the 6 speed trans I pull in 5th and drop into 4th sometimes 3rd but not much. The extra gearing helps out any gas engine. When I had the old 4 speed I would pull in 3rd, so hence 2nd gear would put it in the peak of its TQ band. Regardless the 6.0 will do the job. If u want diesel then buy one, but for that load it's really not needed unless u want it. I have pulled with diesel and stayed with gas for personal reasons. Just remember at 4k rpm that engine is in it peak TQ rating. U are not hurting it or need to back down on speed. Keep it there, it won't blow up....and ur not hurting it at all......
