2008 F250 with 5.4
asking for a friend. Just to get an idea- 250 crew cab with the 5.4 V8 gas.... I need to find out the axle ratio. Any rough idea what they are capable of towing?

Tie/tape a length of string on the drive shaft.
Roll the truck one tire rev. Use the valve stem as the datum.
Count the number of full string wraps, that is the first number of the axle ratio
Fractions of a turn is the rest of the axle ratio
Remove the string
3 whole turns means a 3.xx ratio
3/4 of the remaining is x.73 ratio
Put them together and it would be 3.73 axle ratio
