2008 GMC Yukon MPG?

Yep... Budget for 7-8 mpg.

I had a v10 and it got 7.5 pulling on average.

Talked to a man with a V10 motor home and told me routinely got 8-9 mpg

I can not speak for the 08 but my 2000 extended cab towing my 22 ft loaded to about 6300 plus another 400 in the truck gets between 10-11 hand calculated on the average here in utah

Just what my 2000 Silverado got pulling a 6000 lb fifth wheel!

All gas engines towing all high walled TTs get 7-10mpg. Budget for 8, be happy with 9mpg. Budget for 10 and you'll be disappointing with 9. It's the aerodynamics, not the weight.

I have to agree with Campfire Tom. You’re likely looking at the 9-11mpg area and I think you’ll be happier towing a lighter TT. But that won’t do a lot for your mileage, air resistance is the culprit. Or another option is to spring for a bigger TV. Where you live I think you’ll be doing a good amount of mountain driving and pulling anywhere near your max may not be a lot of fun. Meaning slow, high rpm climbs up every grade. That is probably acceptable if you’re mostly in the flats and grades aren’t common, but it can get pretty tedious if you do a lot of climbing.

After having a TT i would say a motor home is the better choice. It will get better mileage (1mpg). As far as maint. You still have the maintanance on the tow vehicle. And if you buy a fuel efficient car to tow behind the MH you will get better mileage everyday with the car.

That said, while the TC is may be listed at 7000# you most likely won't be happy towing that much weight. The tongue weight will eat up most of your payload only leaving you a few hundred pounds to account for any gear in the truck and any passengers beside yourself. You'll probably be a lot happier looking for a trailer that's under 6000# GVWR. You should be able to find a suitable TT in that weight range at 24'.

TNX, my truck is rated for about 750O# according to what I see. In the past with 5th wheels and one standard travel trailer I have found that if you limit yourself to around 80# of what the tow vehicle maker's claims are that I was much happier towing.
Maybe a 22-24' unit will fit our needs.

I expected the MPG might be higher than say a Class C of small class A and that is what you are saying.
Our Yukon is very low mileage and I think I will look around for something under 24', preferably without a slide that many have today, to buy.
I would much prefer a 5th wheel again but I don't want to have to get rid of the GMC Yukon. Such is life.
