With 550-ish pounds of people, payload may be your limit. You need to find this sticker and note what your truck has where this one says 2051:
The 2009+ Ram half tons are pretty low, but there are so many GVWRs for all the cab/bed/drivetrain combos the as equipped payload is most useful. 2WD Quad cab might be decent, 1500 pounds. The family, stuff in the truck bed, and trailer TW should be under the payload.
6000-ish pounds dry is a good limit for most half tons like yours if you have enough payload. 6k dry means 7000-7500 loaded for as long weekend with 800-1000 pounds of TW.
