2010 Lincoln Navigator Tow Package Questions

I have had a 2003 and 2x2006 model Navigators in the past. All of them had the air suspension both front and rear.

From my understanding on 07 and up some only have the rear air suspension only (not front) and I am wondering is that only with the tow package?

I am looking at a 2010 model at auction and I looked underneath and saw it had rear springs so does that mean no air suspension or is the air suspension basically air adjustable shock? Without rear air suspension do you still have the 8900 tow rating or is it lessened. Do all have the heavy duty radiator and transmission cooler or only the ones with tow package? Do all have rear hitch and trailer wiring connectors?

I looked on newcartestdrive.com for the 2010 model review and this is what it said:

The Trailer Tow package ($595) includes rear load-leveling air suspension, heavy-duty hitch integrated with rear bumper, 2-inch receiver, heavy-duty radiator and transmission cooler, brake module wiring, four-pin and seven-pin connectors.

I want to know because I tow up to 8,000 occasionally and don't want to burn anything out if I get it.

Thanks
  • :) Hi, the only thing that I can add is that my 2000 Navigator has the factory tow package with rear air bags only. Two rear air bags for two wheel drive. And the four wheel drive models had four air bags.
  • Towing 8,000 pounds with that vehicle is asking for trouble. You need to be looking at something with, at bare minimum, a solid rear axle. It will have plenty of power to pull a load, but the suspension is not up to the task of dealing with the tongue weight of a heavy trailer like that.
  • I know it’s not a heavy hauler I was talking about vehicle transport trailers that have lighter tongue weights no travel trailers.
