The payload is the big limiting factor when towing with one of those trucks. Not the towing capacity. Figure 15% of the loaded trailer weight as the towing weight (tongue weight). A WDH just gives you better towing, it limits trailer sway and so on. It doesn't magically increase payload. Neither do air bags.
Does that truck have a towing package installed? That would include a transmission cooler which you will really want if you are towing near the truck's tow capacity.
Just as a comparison, one of the three 'American' manufacturers half ton trucks would have a payload from 1800 pounds to well over 2000 pounds with the tow package.
