2011 chevy hd 6.0 3.73 rear end

how would this handle the mountains out in yellowstone towing a 30 ft tt weighting about 7000 lbs loaded.

  • Piece of cake. Cruise at 2200rpm in 5th on the highway, 4th gear for most hills, and 3rd gear should hold nearly any interstate grade at 60mph and 4500rpm. 2011+ have larger fuel tanks for the 6.5' bed and stronger frames than 2007.5-2010.
  • Yes, any of the gassers need to rev to make power, but they are built to rev. The 2011 with 6-speed transmission will be a big improvement over the old 4-speed.

  • I have an 01 with 4:10 gearing towing around 6500lbs. Yes, it struggles and screams in the hills. Flatlands it does awesome though.
  • It's going to struggle and scream but it will pull it.
