That is for diesel. Mine is gas.
Well, there you go. It's the squirrels. Over 60 is taxing the little guys...you're hearing them gasping for air.
I'll be interested to hear the solution. - Buzzcut1Nomad IITurbo Encabulator is oscillating in the wrong harmonic
- AnEv942NomadYa thats what I was going to suggest-ours an '01 its the little piece the connects the bottom windshield trim at the cowl plastic. Try some masking tape or something to see if thats it. Myself I came across and old tube of black silicon yesterday-thinking ya know I was wanting some for something:h-
thanks for the reminder-now I remember-gluing that piece down.
If its speed dependent more likely air flow related. - jimh406Explorer IIIThe window seals have a flat piece that can make a whistling noise. Solutions vary from replacing the seal, to bug shield, to gluing it down. My new to me truck does the same thing but is intermittent depending on cross winds or not. I'm going to try using a bug shield since I was adding one any way. There are other discussions at the Ford-trucks.com site and similar sites.

That is for diesel. Mine is gas. - sue_tExplorerWe can tell when our turbocharger kicks in on the 7.3L, it is noisy but not overly loud or annoying. Definitely noticeable though.
But if clamps were loose I expect it would be considerably noisier. - Fish__n___GritsExplorerCheck the clamps on the turbocharger air piping. Sure made me scratch my head for awhile!
- The_Mad_NorskyExplorerWhen you find out, tell me.
Mine starting doing the same this spring.
I thought my noise was coming from the dash, maybe through one of the AC vents at first.
The noise is intermittent at worst on mine, and seems to rely on vehicle speed to happen.
Now I am starting to lean towards the idea that it is a drivers door window seal or in that area. But still cannot find it.
But, happens so infrequently I am not overly concerned about it right now.
