I've got a F250 Lariat diesel crew cab, and it's been an incredibly trouble free truck in its 125K miles.
If you're considering buying a Lariat 6.2 gas truck, I'd suggest you drop back to a XLT diesel for about the same money.
When you get up over 10K lbs. dry weight or if you're going to be towing long distances, diesel is the only way to go. But not everyone has the $60k+ laying around to pay for a Lariat or Platinum Crew Cab diesel with every option.
