2011 Ram CTD 3500 fuel filter question

Thanks good info here. I just got a 2011 Ram 2500 and wasn't sure either.

...so if I understand this correctly, both the 2011 CTD and the 2017 can use the same filter under the hood, the newer filter is just updated and better?

Common rail filters
03-07 Single filter 5 mic is the best you can get, many are 10 mic and they need addl filtration.
07.5-09 single filter. Idk the micron rating but believe they need addl filtration too.
10-12 single filter, use new truck filters they're 3 micron. Same as secondary filter on 13-up models
13-present. Primary filter is new, secondary filter is same size/design as 10-12 filters, but better filtration.

That's what I thought. My 2016 has the two filters but I thought the 2011 had one. My son in law bought the filters at the dealer for his 2011 and said they sold him two filters so he's probably was give thge later model filters.

My son has an 2011 with one under the hood. Pre def requires 67000 or about that many miles egr cooler/ egr valve cleaning. I have heard $1200 dollar service but not sure. I did my sons for him.
