98 dodge we had with very poor brakes. solo or towing didn't know which direction the truck was going left or right when stopping. Might just be ours. chevman
True! But there things that can be done like removing the proportioning valve for the rear brakes along with changing to 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" rear GM wheel cylinders. Forget what size.
Or change to EGR rear disk kit as I did on my 98 after doing the other options.
You really don't want to just increase the size of wheel cylinders. I know this is a common mod and shops suggest it all the time but you will actually get worse braking if that's all you do. If you made this mod and did get better brakes, it was because you changed out the factory pads (Dodge pads get less effective over time) or it was just because it got a good bleeding.
I just know what I did made a difference along with many on the TDR at the time. The Proportioning valve removal for sure did the most. Was not an issue with the rear antilock braking.
I did the GM switch. 2001 3500 chev dually. Brake issue solved and one more gear in the trannie. chevman
