If the truck has a tow/haul button on the shifter it has the tow package. It really is a great truck to tow with. And the CrewMax 5.7 with tow package is rated 9,900 lbs for towing. Be careful of payload though.
I believe they all have the Tow/Haul button, towing package or not, and the button is on the dash on my 2007 Crew Max 5.7 and not on the shifter, unless they moved it in later years. The towing package includes the integrated hitch, 7 pin connector, and if I recall heavy duty trans and oil coolers. 2011 might be different. As to the tow capacity, you can tow any weight you want provided you can stay within the payload capacity. That's the catch on all the 1/2 tons.
I h be a 2012 and it is now on the shifter, not the dash. Are you sure they all had the tow/haul switch? That doesn't seem right.
I believe if you have the column shifter tow/haul would be located on it. I have a floor shifter and it is on the dash. As far as all Tundras having the tow/haul switch no matter where it is located would really depend if it was built with a factory tow package, IMHO.
I think you're right. As far as I know, all the 5.7 Tundras have the center console shift, and some of the ones with the smaller engines and column shift have it on the shifter. Like I said, I have an early 2007 and they might have changed something. I thought they all had the tow/haul button but could be wrong, so apologies all round in advance.
That is not correct. I have a 5.7 CrewMax and have a bench seat with column shifter. Sorry for hijacking the thread OP.
Not a highjack at all; I forgot about the bench seat models! Thanks for clarifying, and yes, the bench seat trucks have the column shift. - It_s_MeExplorer

That doesn't seem right. - APTExplorerI highly recommend the OEM towing package for any pickup. At about $350 new, you get a $200 receiver, $100 wiring, $50 trans cooler, free labor and warranty! Used, the market value is tiny, just make sure you find something that has it.
What do you plan on towing? As mentioned, payload is a problem for most half tons. The Tundra Crewmax 4WD has pretty low payload, like under 1300 pounds. That's not enough for 1200 pounds of TW of a 9500 pound TT and even a single driver, let alone a family. Open the driver's door as you shop and locate this label. Note what each vehicle has where this sticker says 2051: - Ron3rdExplorer III
