We just all gotta remember that not everyone is at the same level in the RV game.
So true, One of my good friends bought a new to him TT. It was his first RV of any kind. The questions he had for me only reminded me how long I came in the three years that I have been in RVing. On the other side of that coin, I find myself jumping on this site frequently to answer a question I have. I was lucky to have some experience towing beforehand which allowed me to have a good idea of my limitations with my regards to my TV.
However, there are times when my vehicle is barely adequate. The relatively small rolling hills in Northern Michigan get my clutch fan roaring @ 65 mph. I have to back off to 55-60, which gets annoying when EVERYONE else is blasting past you @ 75-80. I am well within my 8750 lb tow rating.... I actually loaded this thing down and got it to a CAT scale. I have 2500 lbs of fluff. But when you have frontal square feet to contend with, 2500 of reserve capacity ain't s#!t at 65 mph. Raw horsepower and gearing are more significant. Something that didn't apply to my fully loaded relatively low profile V-nosed snowmobile trailer that is within a couple hundred pounds of TT.
So I did what you will hopefully find yourself and just about every other RVer (except maybe the uber wealthy or the uber modest) has to do in this pastime....... compromise and adapt in some way. Otherwise, my bet will be another Craigslist ad involving a very lightly used TT with a MOTIVATED seller who is looking into boats.
You definitely have a fine line to walk when it comes to getting the maximum trailer that you won't regret trying to yank around everywhere you find yourself wanting to go.
Good luck and please share your experiences with us...... you will undoubtedly influence a fellow human when you do.
