FWIW, my MPG in my crew cab dually, with a GVWR 7700 lb travel trailer, AND a golf cart in the bed managed 7.5 MPG through Atlanta rush hour traffic.
If I behaved and "loafed" it at 55-60 mpg my big V10 managed 8.5 mpg with the aerodynamics of a rock. (Golf cart in the bed, plus travel trailer, plus dually fenders, etc etc)
But thats the problem with a v10, It wanted to run at 65, it was happy there. So I let it be happy and I averaged 7.5 mpg.
You can make this work.. But I bet your next Suburban will have 2500 on the side of it :)
I think I would look into adding an aux fan like BenK suggested... Maybe even an additional large stacked plate transmission cooler in line after the factory cooler. I like the B&W or the Derale coolers. Very well made.
