Preventing catastrophic engine failure. Change those early glow plugs boys.
Now that I'm at it, I didn't mention valve cracking problems.
I also was remiss in not mentioning the tons of turbo failures they had.
Interesting that Ford fixed ALL of these problems later on. The valve issue were listed up the 2015 in their TSB's. Pretty telling.
BTW; GM also had the same 4.x fuel pump problems. I would not recommend buying one of those trucks out of warranty either. IOW's my recommendation would have been the same, but I would have put up less links for failures. :B
