BTW I own one of those "smoky diesel pickups". Mine doesn't smoke, and gets 10-13 mpg towing my fiver, 18-20 mpg when not towing. YMMV.:B
Well, the money I saved on not buying the smoker engine ($6000-$8000) and have the additional maintenance cost...I don't think it is sucking money out of my wallet like you say. But that has been debated ad nauseum.
Also, I have a 35 gallon tank on my SB, so unless you have a long bed, which I didn't want...you may want to re-think the fuel station comment also.
Diesel SB tank 28 x 13 = 364 total miles
Gas SB tank 35 x 9 = 315 total miles
Not much difference...plus there are lots more gas pumps out there
