I would go with 4.10 gears if planning to tow with a gas engine powered truck. My last Tahoe had the 4.10 gears and I picked it because of the gears.
The auto manufacturers play the CAFE game with the feds and know that high gearing results in higher EPA highway numbers. These numbers are bogus and don't relate to real world driving much less towing.
With the taller gears you have slower acceleration onto highways, more difficult passing very slow trucks on grades, and reduced engine braking on downgrades.
With today's 6 speed transmissions you get two overdrive gears. No need to have tall rear end gearing at all.
