You might look into the forum "Tundra Talk" and do some research.
The price stays up on the used ones because the market is 20 percent more than the production can turn out (even with overtime and weekends). They (Toyota)are not so sure of the economy to put in a new plant.
I started out looking used but they are hard to find unless a 75,000-100,000 miles is OK. I ended up getting a 2014 (same price about than a 2012/13 used with 20,000 miles or so. Lets face it, new is nice.
Only pulled my trailer over the coast range once and no trouble. Very strong motor so guess have to feed the beast.
Biggest problem is if you step down a little to hard it spins the tires.
