- Dave_H_MExplorer IIWell I have one of those animals - a 2012 and yank a 11.5K fifth wheel with it. just went to the far side (gas) from a psd. Has the 4.30.
Had it on the road last winter and here is what I found out.
At 65 mph it is turning 2000 R's in 6th.
I only used the computer for a warm and fuzzy on the mileage. Got 8.6 at the worst and 8.7 at the best.
it pulls fine and I did run the smokies with it. - slarsenExplorerThere has been plenty of discussion of these trucks - gas - in the tow vehicle section. I have a 2012 F250 3.73 4X4 and I pull an 11K 5th wheel trailer with no problems. It's been over the Eastern mountains several times and I like it and the non-diesel issues (and lower cost) very well. Mileage: on the interstate around 65-70, about 15.5. Pulling the trailer: around upper 8's at low to mid-60's mph. Those with the 4.3 are making nearly the same mileages. I 'lock' my truck into 5th top gear, which is almost like having a 4.3 so someone 'proved' with a lot of gear ratio info a few months ago. You might be able to look it up.
The 4.3 is rated to pull, if I remember right, 15K pounds. The 3.73 is rated at just over 12K pounds. - Denny___JamiExplorerDeleted double post

Can't imagine you can get anything close to a 4:30 gearset in a F-250. But after looking you sure can. Can't imagine the mileage would be very good. It would be screaming at 60 mph

I've got one on order (F350 DRW 4.30 gears), they have a 6 speed transmission with a double overdrive so it won't scream at 60 mph.

I know you were just trying to help. But if you don't know you shouldn't guess at the answer.
To the OP'er you might check here. That is a link to the 6.2 forum on FTE. I am sure you can get first hand information there. Good luck, John
P.S. For just a bit more you could step up to an F350 and have plenty of truck. JMHO - AllworthExplorer IIIt pulls like a gasser! Nuff said!
