I think you are either mis-reading the post, or you are putting words in his mouth.
The way I read his post is that IF (and that is a big if) there is a problem, then heads are replaced. I haven't read anywhere that he said it is a wide spread problem. What was said is that in the case it is a problem, it is significant. Seems fair to me.
And I don't think that you have to own a particular product to intelligently comment on it if you have done your research. For example, I have never played NFL football, but I do feel competent to comment on the sport.
Nope, he specifically stated "The problem isn't so much the turbo's, it's the direct injection and the resulting carbon build up at higher mileage. Fords fix in the past has been to replace the heads. And it's not a "Ford" thing; any gas vehicle with DI is subject to this problem...Now someone is going to come on and say they have 3 million miles and never heard of this or that I'm some sort of anti Ford guy. My history of posts proves otherwise and besides...."
There was no "IF" in there and he specifically said that this is a problem with "any gas vehicle with DI" which is false. I explained why "any gas vehicle with DI" does not have problems with carbon buildup to where the head needs to be replaced and that it is certain engines with EGR systems that are having what he is talking about. The DI engines that the OP is talking about DO NOT have EGR systems therefor what he is saying has little to no significance.
About the NFL thing. You may be able to comment about the NFL, but I bet a player or couch would now more about what goes on than you would. So you can make your comment, but if someone who has actually been in the NFL corrects you, then I would probably take their word for it since they actually have experience in the NFL.
I have actually personally owned an Ecoboost and put 75k on it, I had an Ecoboost company truck that I put over 130k on, and my company has a fleet over Ecoboost trucks some with over 190k on them. Guess what, the "direct injection and the resulting carbon build up at higher mileage" was never an issue in any of them. So yeah, that kind of makes me an NFL player instead of someone who just plays fantasy football.
I am not sure I know of anyone on this site that takes things as personally as you do. Or comes across as condescending.
You took his post one way. I took it another. And he agreed that my post followed his intent. Did you read his response to me? Or did you ignore it because it does not support your position?
As far as the NFL, comment, I will still say you are wrong, especially when it comes to a player. You know, the ones who will make a comment every year like "I didn't know that a game could end in a tie".
Or a driver of a vehicle like someone who isn't a car enthusiast. Like say my sister. Who has put 150,000 + miles on her Suburban, yet would have no idea of what engine is in it.
Now, from your posts, I will give you enough credit to say that I don't think you are that type of driver. But I also know that just because you have put thousands of miles on one, that does not make your experience the end all be all.
