Since you no longer own the TC it doesn't matter, but that is one location where pooled cab over water will migrate to due to gravity when the TC is set nose high.

Dodge didn't increase their pay load and GVWR until the DEF equipped models in 2013. The 2012 has the same weight limitations as the 2011.
I didn't want to start out more 1000lbs in the hole, the camper will not get any lighter, but will get heavier as time goes by.
I have no doubt the 2012 will handle the camper, but I try to stay within GVWR or maybe a little over if possible.
I would not like my truck without bags, they don't do anything as far as leveling, but do make it more stable. I can really tell the difference if I forget to pump the bags up, Stable loads are a must also.

That year Dodge will be at least 1000lbs over GVWR and way over payload.
One of the reasons I didn't buy a Dodge in 2011 is that the Dodge had more than 1000lbs less in GVWR and more than that in payload.
I am at my max GVWR and payload with my boat in tow and 20 gallons of water. Without the boat, I can carry nearly the full 70 gallons and still be within specs.
The 2013+ Fords have an additional 700 lbs. of GVWR, which gives more headroom.
The 2013+ Fords have a little larger brakes which accounts for the higher GVWR rating.

Carried Host on 2012 Dodge Dually 3500 it was fine without airbags but I added them anyway.

well there is only one "Host Dealer" in Arizona and they have two locations, one is in Tempe and the other is in Surprse per the Host website thats a little over 3 hours from Show Low

and at 4.5 hours there is a dealer in Placitas, NM and that's it unless you come to central California, Oregon, or Pennsylvania

If the dealer has $37,000 tied up in it, it will be for sale... Now! Remember most of their invatory is "floor planned" this TC purcase was out of pocket. That would be a big bite out of the cash reserve for almost any RV dealer


If I were interested in it and the price was right I'd take it as is... I could repair it... most of the TC owners that I have met have a lot of tools and the skills necessary to use them.

I'd have to upgrade my truck... my truck hauls our Lance 1161 just fine... but I seriously doubt that there is a 1 ton dually out there that should haul a Host Everest.

Im sure the dealer that has this TC will not advertise it for sale until its repaired properly. It might be on their lot but I doubt if it would be listed as sellable inventory until the repairs are made.
