Fred may send me the photos and I hope he does, if he does I'll repost them.
The purpose of a forum IS to be able to discuss these things in as objective a way as possible and since we are all different in our attitudes and expectations, they way it works is you have opinions across the board and us readers then get to take our own opinion. The picture for us reader gets more and more filled in as we learn more of the story.
I think the "picture" we are getting is relatively clear. I DO have an expectation going in to spending such a huge amount of money on something as complicated as a TC.....and I am very vested in the success of my purchase and my real goal is ending up with the best TC for me. You don't go into these deals on a whim. Some things will be wrong....if minor I don't care too much but if major I'd be trying to not only get it fixed but fixed BETTER for my personal needs. It is the opportunity you have to end up in a better place (potentially) than you would have had there not been a problem. If you are vested in a good solution, and the manufacturer is participating I think you would have ended up happy. I'd have taken the fix with the diamond plate, done to my satisfaction (I don't see how the proposed fix wouldn't be functional) and then sometime later as someone else said, plan a trip to a beautiful part of the country, have the experts, with the engineers right there, do the full side replacement where they can realign etc. Meanwhile, I'd have started using it, figure out what other changes or customizations I wanted/needed, been prepared to pay for them, be courteous and up front and fair and in a lot of cases, the manufacturer would end up bending over backward for you on their home turf where there resources are. They'd see you are invested in your camper and its future, and they would want the happy customer. But manufacturers can't necessarily afford to that that for every remote customer, even working through a good dealer especially if they don't seem vested or if the money seems to be the primary issue. If there is any inkling that you just want out of the deal, to move on to another RV....and trade it in and dump in back on the dealers hands etc.....in essence, aren't "vested" in being a happy Host TC owner.....then I could see them moving on without extending you any more "offer" than they gave you.
I do wish you luck with your new C. Look at it as basically the financial hit you take the moment you walk out the door (or drive as it may be.) Going from 50 to 37 is in that range that you always hear about......that's the hit you take buying new. The delam doesn't really enter into it. If it were a serious issue, I don't think you would have gotten 37K for it, even on trade. I've never even bought one new, and largely for that reason. Even knowing EXACTLY what I want, I'm still not sure I'd ever take that big hit when a "new" camper becomes a "used" camper. If I did, it would be the EXACT camper I wanted, I would do everything I could to make sure in the end I ended up with the best camper I could, even if that meant taking a few lumps, the manufacturer taking a few lumps......but I'd make it better in the end. That's what matters.
