Tow rating and air bags are great marketing talking points but not all that relevant when comparing how the two trucks will perform and their durability. Ram has a much stronger frame (as strong as the ones on the GM trucks) and Ford transmissions have been more reliable than those on the Dodge/Ram trucks over the years.
I can't remember reading any stories about problematic spontaneous frame failures on any brand HD truck. Anyone else?
Nope, never heard of one....Ram did do a complete upgrade on their frame as well as front and rear suspension, probably help give them the higher GVWR and GCWR numbers they now have, but never heard of a frame failure on any of them, but don't think the other post said anything about frame failures, just stated the Ram frame NOW is just as strong as the one on the Chevy( more of a compliment than a cut)..he even stated Ford tranny was more reliable than the Dodge/Ram trucks...I can't compare, but after owning the Ram with 68RFE tranny towing 5er all over the mountains, got to admit, after coming from an Allison, I was more impressed with the 68RFE than I thought I'd be...
