2013+ ram 3500 receiver hitch height

I just ordered a 2016 Ram 3500 and I know it will sit much higher than my 2012 Ram 1500 and im curious if I need to buy a new hitch shank. Could you please let me know how high it is from the ground to the bottom of the receiver. Im not sure how long it will be till I get it so if I need to get one I would like to get one prior to camping season next year. Its a 1200lb equalizer with standard shank. I plan on using it with the new truck.

Shouldnt feel that 7500lb camper with the 6.7 cummins with the aisin transmission. Ordered the truck so its all ready when we uprade to a fifth wheel.

Thanks!
  • That 3500 won't sag as much as the 1500 once loaded either unless you had the WD bars cranked way up on the 1500.
I'd guess the new truck won't drop but an inch or 2 total with all the tongue weight so figure that into the drop as well. Unless you're getting a height adjustable hitch maybe wait til you can hook up the new truck for a real measurement.

Any chance it has any part # on it. I had a hard time finding any husky shanks online. Camping world is the only close dealer and this one is horrible so I refuse to purchase from them. I found the equalizer one for $155 on etrailer.

Unfortunately I don't know what the part number was. It was on a sticker that immediately came off. I paid $80 for my shank in store. It was cheaper than buying on-line, plus I needed it NOW... I had bought the new truck a week before we went camping and we have a STEEP driveway. Without the proper drop shank I would have been stuck trying to leave the driveway!
