Not sure, will ford cover your liability if you wreck while towing? Yes, I am sure modifying the hitch will void the warranty on the hitch. Sad but true. Pretty sure adding a transmission cooler will also not be covered by Subaru.
You do realize I was not trying to get the OP to pull a 35 ft airstream. We are talking about Scamp and Casita sized trailers. The OP's car will be fine for those trailers with some mods.
BTW...CanAm has NEVER had an accident happen due to their set ups. (At least per Andy T as of Oct 2013) They have limits too. Hence the recommendation to call them directly.
