Most car sale people will tell you what they think you want to hear to make the sale. I own a 2006 Tribeca since new. I also own a Ram 3500 Dually diesel and I tow heavy. I have towed with many different vehs from a Chevy Cavalier several sedans and 4 powerful trucks. You can tow but you have to stay within limits. Dry weights are what dealers talk about but the real weight of your trailer is its own weight and the contents.
Plus you need to figure in the weight of your car as far as your capabilities. You need at the min. an aux. Transmission oil cooler and a temp gauge for the transmission. When your engine overheats your trans will really overheat which can equal damage. You will need the proper receiver hitch and a brake controller. Also do not skimp on changing your veh. Fluids. Good luck.
