2013 Trailer at dealer over 1 year

What is the opinion of a 2013 trailer that has been at the dealer for over 1 year?
Should I have an independent inspection done?
What are the things to look for besides obvious water damage etc?
What should I offer as the 16's are coming in and I know they need the space? Currently at 30% off MSRP whatever that is??

thx to all:)

  • Don't forget the tires are already 3 yrs old and batteries are also not new. Might negotiate these factors into your offer. Complete exterior detail and wax would not be unreasonable. JMO.
  • I have read that deals in the west are not as good due to the transportation cost to deliver the trailers to the dealer, 30% off msrp for a 3 yr old trailer seems way to high! How much is a comparable '15 or '16 model going for?

If you are up for a road trip, you can get about 30% off msrp of a brand new '16 going through RV Express, or RV One. Don't be afraid to search somewhat close dealers to price compare as well.

As a comparison, we just got about 32% off our new '16 Jayco. Being in Mi we are considerably closer to the manufactures though in regards to delivery cost.

Forgot to mention this is a used unit . One owner for 3 months and then traded in.

In that case you have no factory warranty but maybe a warranty from the dealer. I would not offer more than 50% of MSRP and see what happens but hold as close to that price as you can for a fair deal.

  • Ask if Factory 1 year warranty will START at the day of sale... or NO warranty.

if looks good.. offer 50 percent of MSRP.. as almost no one pays MSRP.

yes 2013 and 2016 is just around the corner.. making it 3 years old.
