2014 Chevy 1500 WT opinions?

Interested in a clean 2014 Silverado 2 door 4x2 work truck with 63k miles. It has a 4.3 V6 with 6 speed auto and wondering if this is a solid year, motor and tranny? The application will be work related with light towing and not concerned about capacity just longevity if properly maintained. Any opinions are much appreciated.

  • Very good drivetrain and easy to maintain truck for sure. Shouldn’t have really any issues with that truck.
  • I've always had extremely good results with GM products in general, particularly Chevy trucks. I don't know how it is in your area but around here in the mountains of VA where it snows you can hardly give away a 2wd truck. Therefore, resale on one is very very low. If that's not an issue for you then no problem.
The 4.3L V6 in the 2014 and newer is a different engine than the old 4.3L V6 that was introduced in the 80's. The old one was a great engine. I don't have any experience with the new one but 2014 was the first year it was used in the Silverado. The 6 speed transmission is great, there shouldn't be any problems with it.
  • I can't comment on the 2014.
Over the years I've had a Monte Carlo, two Blazers and a full size 4x2 truck with the 4.3, they were only the 4 speed automatic.
They were fantastic engines, I wish I still had the truck.
