This might not be the right forum but.....Does the sensor that tells when to change your motor oil change when you run a different oil than what the truck came with ? I changed the oil at 5000 mil...

I'm going to change the oil today. I'm sure if something was to go bad with the motor that's probably the first thing that would be looked at. If you reset it can it tell that there is new oil in the motor or is it just reset and starting over ??? Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to get out of changing the oil I will change it in a heart beat, just trying to learn this thing.
It is just a computer algorithm that measures various items between the reset such as miles, hours, etc. It cannot detect quality of oil, type, or if it has actually been changed.
