2014 GMC Sierra -- Opinions on Towing

I have a Grey Wolf 26DBH (31' 7"); Dry weight -- 5750; GVWR 7740; Hitch Weight 740 lbs.

I am looking at purchasing a 2014 GMC Sierra; 5.3L; 3.42 rear axle ratio. GM says trailer hauling capacity is 9600 lbs.

A few questions:

1. Is there likely any difference in towing a travel trailer with the short bed (5'8") vs. the standard bed (6'6")?

2. GMC also has a Max Trailer Package that essentially ups the rear axle ratio to 3.73. Is this likely to be critical to towing a camper like mine? I'd prefer to stay with the 3.42, if everything else is equal, just for the better gas mileage as I'll also be driving it every day.

3. Any other input on towing with this vehicle? I know, bigger is better, but I'll be driving it every day. So, I'm hoping to get something that gets decent mileage, is relatively easy to park, and that will still be a reasonably safe and efficient to pull my travel trailer 5-6 times per year.

Thanks.
