Tow Haul does lock out 6th for me when I pull my TT. Could be my trailer is just heavy enough that the computer knows it and doesn't use 6th. I'll try unloaded today and see if it goes into 6th. Also it does disable MDS. You can tell when MDS kicks in...it has never kicked it for me in tow/haul mode. Many threads on this in the various Ram forums...
Not sure what speed it shifts into 6th. I have 4.10s. I can say, unloaded, it shifts into 6th asap and can usually hold it up and down the hills around here. I use cruise as much as possible and the truck rarely has to downshift to maintain speed. Key to fuel economy with the 4.10s is to slow down. 65+ eats into fuel economy...60 and lower seems to produce good results.
