Been down that slippery slope with my 2001.5. I have the T-shirt, hat, merit badge, and had an attic full of parts replaced. Drove by the pyro, with the 2015, I just hook and go.
I don't drive by the pyro. I set my Insight to alert me if it get past a certain temp and I hardly ever look at it since it will very rarely go off. Now when I had my stock box in then it would go off more often and get passed my comfort zone on a long pull. My intake helped keep it from getting there so I don't have to worry about it, even when it was stock.
Although, most people that say intakes are worthless generally don't have any real data to back that up and are just going by what they read from members on another forum. Those that do have data, it is from some N/A gas engine from years ago and not a turbocharged diesel. Will it benefit every truck and engine? Probably not, but I have seen gains on the diesel trucks that I did dyno (especially when tuned), and lower EGT's on my gauges. What gauges are you reading that show no improvement over stock with an intake versus your stock box?
