I picked up my 2014 Silverado earlier this week, so I will admit bias right off the top. I traded in a 2011 Ram, not because I didn't like it, but there were reasons.
Looks: It took me a double take to get it, but I really like the Silverado (much better than the Sierra IMO). This said, I thought the Ram up until 2013 was the best looking truck on the road.
Power: The power is not much diminished going from the 5.3 to the 5.7, but I agree with the comment the OP made about throttle tip-in. It takes some getting used to driving the Silverado.
Interior: I really enjoy the interior of the Silverado although I miss having cup holders in the dash versus in the arm rest (front bench seat). Mind you I went from a Ram ST/SLT to a Silverado LT, so this was not an apples to apples.
Payload: This is a showstopping winner for the Chev. My old Quad Cab Ram rated 1610 lbs for payload. A 2014 equipped similarly to what I have now (Big Horn Crew Cab 4X4) rates 1417 lbs for payload with the 5'7" box. You'll note that Ram doesn't offer the larger box sizes with their Crew Cabs. The Chev with the 6'6" box, crew cab, Max Trailering package and all the other LT trim-line bells and whistles rates 1751 lbs for payload. So apples to apples or apples to oranges, the Chev is stouter from a payload perspective while still providing the cargo capacity that I need out of a standard size bed.
For me, I liked my Ram, but I'm beginning to love my Chev.
